# Install the App

> Install xchar on iPhone, Android, or desktop for an app-like experience.

xchar is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your device for a native app-like experience with faster load times and easy access from your home screen.

## iOS (iPhone/iPad)

To install on iOS using Safari:

1. Open **xchar.ai** in Safari
2. Tap the **Share** button (square with arrow pointing up)
3. Scroll down and tap **"Add to Home Screen"**
4. Tap **"Add"** in the top right corner

<Tip>
  The app will appear on your home screen just like a native app. You'll get a fullscreen experience without browser UI.

## Android

To install on Android using Chrome:

1. Open **xchar.ai** in Chrome
2. Tap the **three-dot menu** in the top right
3. Tap **"Add to Home screen"** or **"Install app"**
4. Tap **"Install"** to confirm

  Chrome may also show an install banner at the bottom of the screen - you can tap that for quick installation.

## Desktop

To install on desktop (Chrome, Edge, or other Chromium browsers):

1. Visit **xchar.ai**
2. Look for the **install icon** in the address bar (usually on the right side)
3. Click it and select **"Install"**

  The desktop app runs in its own window, making it easy to switch to and keeping your browsing separate from your xchar
  experience.
